Many people knew our founder, Barbara, as the “face” of H&S. She ran an antiques booth for years until one day a family friend asked if she could help sell an inherited house full of belongings— and H&S was born. Since then, we’ve helped diverse clients, from museums and historic sites to fine art heirs and downsizing snowbirds.

Sadly, Barbara passed on very peacefully in 2024. Her kindly spirit, healthy sense of humor, and legacy of integrity live on under the management of her daughter, Shirl. As both a fine artist and alumna of Hollins University and the Savannah College of Art and Design, Shirl brings a passion for art history and professional knowledge of art creation and handling to H&S Estate Services.

Though Barbara is no longer with us, her same warm team continues at H&S Estate Services, providing over 125 years of combined experience. We look forward to seeing both old familiar faces and new ones at our next sale, where you will find the same lovely— and fun— experience Barbara and her staff were known for.
